Drydocks at maximum capacity...

So my Dindrenzi starter box arrived today. That means that right now I've got a Centauri Fleet to paint, along with a dozen cardassian ships, a zillion fighters and 10 dindrenzi... That's just a lot to work...

Centauri fleet basecoated

Fighters from Studio Bergstrom also basecoated, along with some keldon class cardassian cruisers

Bergstrom's wrok is really great. Look at how small those fighters are:

Now check the amount of detail they have:

The fact that they come with silicon hex bases allow you to fit a bunch of them per base, giving it a real squadron feel. Besides, the silicon isn't damaged by sticking needles on it, so you can take the fighters out and put them back as much as you want, eliminating the need to use dice to keep track of the number of fighters remaining on that squadron.

And here are the Dindrenzi:

A lot of flash to be removed from those models, but luckly no huge miscasts (I was worried, there has been a lot on complaint over Firestorm Armada models for that). There are small shrinks on some pieces, tough, very small, barely noticeable. Also some filling up with green stuff is going to be needed. Other then that, all seems fine! *relieved*

I got to play my first game of Warhammer 40K last saturday at our gaming club. I loved it! I fielded Space Marines against the Tyranids of a fellow wargamer. Boy, those bugs are nasty!

At a point, I had lost all hope of winning, those bugs were eating me up (literally...). But another gamer who were there helping me with the tactics demoved me from capitulating, that would be too shameful, after all, Space Marines never surrender!

So I carried on, and turned out the massive marine fire power ended up killing all the bugs, among which were some really, really big/tough/mean/ruthless ones. I couldn't believe it. Seriously, a couple game turns earlier I could see no hope of any marine surviving that slaughter! Incredible!

It was a 1000 point game, and in the end the only surviving warriors were my Dreadnought and 3 devastator marines, along with a Rhino...

It was so much fun that I decided to have a Space Marine army. But I'm going to buy it painted already. There is simply not enough room in the drydocks for anything else for a long time...

Centauri Fleet ready for Primer

So my Centauri fleet arrived the day after I finished my Dominion ships (what a timing!). They are now assembled, and ready to be painted.

The Centauri are one of my all-time favorite fictional alien races, and I want that fleet to look outstanding, so I'm really going to apply myself.

The big ones are yet to be based, as I'm waiting for more omni-stands mounts from Corsec Engineering to arrive.

I like the Centauri design so much that I'm considering getting some more, although I believe the fleet is at good size, already.

Their look is gorgeous. Seriously, if you don't agree with me on that, then I'm sorry, but I'm afraid we can't be friends (lol).

Dominion Fleet out of the Drydocks!

The little attack ships still need their flight bases, which are gonna be silicone hex bases, from Studio Bergstrom, like this one below:

Jem' Hadar Attack ship

the Breen Cruisers

The Jem' Hadar Battleship (in my case, the Dreadnought...)

I'll be posting more about the ruleset I'm designing soon. I got one of the guys at our wargaming club to playetest it with me next saturday.

Jem' Hadar Fleet in drydocks

My Dominion fleet from Ender (http://starshipadversaries.blogspot.com/) arrived today! Took them at postal office and spent the afternoon cleaning it up (what? I'm on vacations...).

There was some flashing to do, but mostly sanding, a lot of sanding to have those models ready for primer. The battleship, a behemoth of almost 9" was somewhat puzzling to put together (and Ender did send writen instructions on that...).

Along with the batleship came 4 Jem' Hadar cruisers, 5 Breen cruisers and 15 Jem' Hadar attack ships.

The assembled fleet. A yet-to-be-painted Bergstrom Keldon cruiser is welcoming the new guys. On the bottom, we can see some of my Federation ships, waiting me to finish painting them (boy, it's starting to crowd in there...)

The Centauri should take another week or two to get here, enough time for me to finish everything currently on the works and clean off my work place.

My Home-brew Ruleset - Sheet Preview

So I'm designing my own ruleset for my miniature space battles. It's up for the initial tests right now. One of the things I like to see in a system is an atractive ship stats sheet. So I'm developing one I'm quite happy about, actually!

It is in ".xls" format, and can be customized to have different colors, so I can have sheets with the traditional colors of the race I happen to be playing with. It doesn't take more than 1 minute to change its colors (!)

The one above is my idea for Dominion ships. Here are some more options:

Romulan

Borg

Klingon

I'll be posting more on my system soon (including the name, which is still being discussed here). Feedback is welcomed!

Also, my Centauri and Dominion fleets are on their way!!
