Firestorm Armada Battle Stations

I got the recently released version 2.0 of the Firestorm Armada rulebook along with the 6 core races battle stations. They are very well cast, and for someone like me who has been away from Spartan Games models for quite a while, the evolution of their quality is pretty evident.

The downside of these stations is that they don`t come with flight stantds nor assembling guides, and purchasing all 6 together as I did gives you a whole lot of acrylic components you have to clip out and figure out where to fit. The Spartan Games blog entry that portrays those stations where very useful for me as a guide for assembling those models.

I based them on Corsec`s omni stands, using hex bases, since I currently don`t have square ones in sufficient number.

The Directorate is the only one on which I used a paint scheme other than the studio`s. I never liked the official colors for that faction, and I`m still not sure how to paint those ships when I get a fleet of them.

The sorylians were painted on the original blue/yellow scheme, which has been now replaced by Spartan by a red/white job which doesn`t appeal to me.

The Terran station has a pretty cool Shields Generator on the centre of the model, and I painted it to show as if it was powered on and glowing. Unfortunately, it is very hard to take a pic with proper lighting on such deep recess of the model to show that detail.

(Rei)nforcers

PuppetsWar recently released a new set of ultra-heavy infantry and they look absolutely awesome. I couldn't resisting picking some, and since Enforcers are currently my scifi army of choice, I decided to give them the same paint scheme.

I have magnetized all arms, so I can switch them for weapon options other then the stock power fist. There is none on puppetswar range for these guys yet, but I suppose they are going to do some in the near future. Plus, Mantic's Peacekeepers for Deadzone are going to come with lots of arm choices, and I trust they will look just fine on these guys here.

These models also come with slots for magnets on the top of their armor, allowing you to fit a missile launcher or the like.

Here we have a comparison pic of a Peacekeeper Enforcer, from Mantic, next to one of PuppetsWar new Ripper suits. Bear in mind that the texture on the Peacekeeper's basing makes him look a bit taller than he actually is. Both models are roughly the same height.

I also purchased a vehicle weapon from their line. A nice set, easy to magnetize. I'm probably going to use it this for this guy here, which I intend on getting on the next month or so.

Deadzone is here!

I got my Deadzone Strike team package last week, and I immediatelly started working on those amazing scenery tiles. A friend of mine on my gaming club also pledged for Strike Team, so in total we have a considerate amount of terrain to play on, sufficient to fill a warpath gaming table!

I painted both our sets, so they would be visually compatible. Here is how they look like:

This tower below is from another manufacturer. It is also modular, but not as high quality as Mantic's, and I had it sitting on my paint desk for a while now, waiting for me to decide on a paint scheme. Deadzone settled this issue.

And here is how this terrain look like on the Deadzone mats:

My pledge level also came with a ridiculous amount of miniatures, and I'm already working on them. I estimate I'll be done by year 2018 (!) Not that I'm complaining, though...
