Austrian Cuirassiers en masse

After finishing the 2 regiments I showed here on the previous post, I now have a total of 4 cuirassier regiments for the Austrian army, so I decided to post some pics of their heavy cavalry en masse.

I plan on doing another 2 regiments, so I can field the Austrian cuirassiers in 2 brigades of 3 regiments each, enough to play some large battles against the french.

Austrian Cuirassiers - Czartoryski and Erzherzog Franz

Here's a couple new regiments of cuirassiers I painted for the Austrians. These are Hat Industries kits, with the trumpeters from their Austrian Chevau-Leger set.

Austrian Dragoons - Regiment Ferdinand

I've been absent from the blog for a while, but that's not because of lack of painting. I've actually been out of supplies for the bases - specifically, the mdf bases.

Because of that, there are a few units I have finished during these last few weeks that only now have been properly finished, and here is the first of them, my second regiment of Austrian Dragoons, the regiment Ferdinand, with their green facings.

Austrian Staff

Another installment on my project of napoleonic personalities and staff. Here we have the austrian generals, both german and hungarian.

These are a mix of plastics from Strelets (mainly the personalities) and a few other models, such as soldiers and officers, from other brands, (Hat, Italeri) to build the vignettes, but there are a lot of metal figures as well, from Art Miniaturen. I couldn't rely solely on plastics this time - the Strelets set of austrian personalities is very limited, both in numbers and quality. The austrian figures are the worst of Strelets sculpts among the allied staff kits they produced, the personalities have such oversized heads and hands that they ended up looking all too cartoony.

The worst case was Emperor Francis, which I felt compeled to convert, and exchanged his head for that of another plastic model. The metal models, on the other hand, are beautifully proportioned, but detail is not as crisp as on plastics.

Here is the lot:

First, a few personalities:

Now, these guys are some of my favorite, a reunion of commanders studying maps of the battlefield ahead. The maps proper were hand made.

Last, Emperor Francis I of Austria (or Francis II of the Holy Roman Empire, if playing campaigns prior to 1806).
