Terrain from Mars Attacks!

I recently painted my terrain from the Mars Attacks! Kickstarter, from Mantic, and now that I see them done, I think I like them even more than the Deadzone terrain. Have a look:

I added some ads and warnings I found over the web. This helps give a feel of post-apocalyptic times to those ruins.

Zombies, lots of them!

No army of Scifi Nazis is complete without some zombies. Thus, I finally, sit to paint my 45 Deadzone zombies. This was the largest number of 28-30mm miniatures I painted at once so far, but my "assembly line" approach works wonders, I must say, and I managed to finish these on 2 weeks of work in the evenings.

I wanted them to look mostly like prisioners who've been submitted to some genetic/biological engineering by the evil nazi scientists, thus the orange uniform. Still, I did a thrird of the mob (15 models) in some different schemes, so to have more diversity of looks.

New addition to our Club's terrain collection - Warhammer Fortress

Just recently our club acquired a gorgeous new set of terrain, the Warhammer Fantasy Fortress, from Games Workshop. For a while I've been thinking of purchasing this kit myself, but my hobby budget was constantly needed elsewhere, and so this was repeatedly postponed.

But then suddenly there was this opportunity: an acquaintance of one of our members was selling a complete kit, and the club decided to go for it. Perfect timing, I'd say, as this is going to be quite useful for my games of Hail Caesar with Romans and Crusaders.

I was so excited to get to it, that once this set was on my hands I quickly started working on it. An evening of assembling on saturday, priming on sunday and actual painting over a couple more evenings and voilà!

The best thing about this kit is its versatility. You can arrange the different parts in several ways and come up with many layouts. Even an Adrian Wall is an option, if you need to keep those highlander barbarians out of Britannia.

My roman army so far

I thought it'd be nice to show some pics of my roman army at current strength. 4 cohorts, almost half way to a full legion. As I mentioned on a previous post, the larger unit below represents the First Cohort of the Legion, which were roughly double the strength of the others.
