Italeri Stone Bridge

I'm expanding my range of terrain for the 1/72 wargaming, and since I made some river sections a couple months ago, getting my hands on a suitable bridge was a only reasonable, right?!

This is a beautiful kit, very well detailed, easy to assemble and quite unexpensive. I got mine for 10 pounds on Ebay. The bridge is perfectly suitable for larger scales, such as 28mm, which makes this kit an ever greater value.

The bridge over the river sections:

This model fits just perfectly over the river sections I made. And I stress: just perfectly. Were the sections a fraction of an inch broader, and the bridge would fall short on them. I wish I could say this was all planned, but truth be told, I wasn't even aware of this beautiful Italeri kit by the time I produced those pieces of river terrain. It's great when the universe conspires and everything works out, isn't it?!

I have also being investing on some houses to make up a good historical table, and our club has being purchasing more landscape terrain, such as trees, woods, etc., since we were quite lacking on this department.

By the time my first Napoleonic armies are ready to meet the ground, I'll be able to come up with attractive tables, which always makes the game more enjoyable! Now, back to painting a couple hundred more tiny soldiers!

British Light Infantry and Skirmishers

Here is the beginning of my British Infantry. This is a Hat Light Infantry unit. There are enough models in the kit to come up with one of my 32-man regiments and spares to make eight 2-man skirmish bases.

The British favorite formation, the Line:

The 8 bases we see here are going to be my standard to represent an entire regiment in skirmish order. Even though these bases contain half the number of models of my regiment units, I think this is reasonable enough, as I feel more bases would make skirmish units occupy too much table space.

The skirmish bases, when formed up may be used to represent Small Units (Stamina 2) in Black Powder. I may reduce the unit to 4 bases, to represent Tiny Units (Stamina 1).

For mixed formations, I'm going to be using 3 skirmish bases in front of the regiment. If the regiment is Large (Stamina 4) I'll be using 4 or 5 skirmish bases in front of it.

French Carabiniers

Another addition to my french army. Here we have the Carabiniers a Cheval, the most Elite (at least, according to them) of all French Heavy Cavalry.

I painted these models with the pre-1813 regulation, where all horses where black - except the trumpeter,  who rode a white or grey horse. The trumpeter, by the way, still had light blue jacket, instead of the green pattern of later.

I suppose the rule of black-horses-only was then lifted due to the disaster on the Russian campaign, where so many horses were lost that a cavalier would be glad if he could be assigned any horse whatsoever.

I still have a couple infantry units to paint in order to have my french ready for playing, but I'm progressing steadily, so I expect to have this done over the next month. And then, there is the british...

Here is my Italeri British Horse Artillery. The limber for this unit will be that of the revell kit, which featured here a couple posts ago.
