Warmachine build up

Lately, I've been working on my Warmachine armies. I already have a good number of Khadorans and Cygnarans.

I've done some converting on a couple of the Khador models I like the most. One of them is Karchev, the Terrible!

He's standing over the upper torso of a (obviously) dead cygnaran stormblade. I'll paint the soldier's waist all red, like blood, and also do some red on Karchev's axe, so to make it clear that he cut the enemy soldier in half with his huge weapon.

All heavy jacks from Khador were magnetized, allowing them to be placed on a variety of poses. I do the same with the larger jacks from Cygnar and Menoth, but the task is harder with them, as even their heavy jacks have somewhat skinny arms, and there is not much room for drilling and fitting big enough magnets to actually hold things together.

My devastator is one of the magnetized jacks that work really well:

 Closed arms (huge armor value!)

Attack mode (not such huge armor value now, but still good)

My Behemoth is also magnetized and converted. It's crushing a cygnaran jack under its foot. The cygaran looks still functional (although having lost the right arm on the fight). The movement allowed to the behemoth's arms by the magnets makes the scene look amazing. I'm looking forward to have it painted.

The weather here has been terrible lately (for painting miniatures, that is, for oversleeping on weekends on the other hand...), so I only managed to finish priming my Carnivoran fleet yesterday. Now I have to get them painted before my Aquarian fleet arrives, and take the time between to get some Warmachine painted.

Here is what my armies look like so far:

 Khador and some Menoth

Cygnar
(some jacks are not showing on the pic as they are in process of being magnetized)

Not Only Spaceships

Well, its been a while since I last posted anything not related to spaceship gaming, so let me show you guys my first painted Khador units, from Warmachine:

These are from the 2-player battlebox, which also comes with a Menoth Battlegroup. Those are still waiting for their specific paints to arrive, though.

I fully magnetized the 'jacks, and now I can exchange their arms if I will, or remove them to represent crippled systems, and even remove the upper body, leaving only the legs on the table to represent a wreck, as I don't have these markers yet.

Magnetizing also allows me to give them cinematic poses, such as those below.

I'm also painting 2 space marines tactical squads and a drop pod for my Black Templars army (40K). Other than that, I beginning a third Warmachine army: Cygnar. But all this on the meantime of working on Pax Stellarum.

I'm a begginer when it comes to painting 28mm, alright, but I'm still proud of what I acomplished with my first Khadorans. Painting flesh and making realistic bases are something I'm still learning, though.

As for the last, I have an excuse. The best material is not sold here, so I purchased from abroad and it still haven't arrived. As for flesh, well... Its just too much work applying an undercoat, then successive layers of wash, then highlight, on something so small as the face of a guy 28mm tall (!).

My 2012 Wishlist

I have so many interests involving spaceship miniatures and wargaming in general that I try to have some sort of annual planning to purchase them all.

In my current wish list, for instance, are all fleets of Galactic Knights (Starfleet Wars), Stargate and the Sorylians from Firestorm Armada, not to mention the last fleet missing on my Babylon 5 collection: The Earth Alliance.

Sorylian Dreadnought

Aquarian Leviathan Class Dreadnought

Ancient Cruiser

Earth Force Poseidon Super Carrier

Oh, and there is also the Mon Calamari, which I'm in need to make up a rebel fleet to oppose my Galactic Empire forces...

Mon Calamari Class 85 Cruiser

My gaming budget allows me to get a fleet each month, so it's going to take me all remaining months before the end of the world in december (?) to hit my entire current wish list.

The situation would be somewhat manageable if spaceships were my only gaming interests, but (unfortunatelly) they aren't...

I'm also building not one - or two - but three Warmachine armies: Khador, Cygnar and Menoth. The minis are not only gorgeous but a lot of folks on my local gaming club are playing it, so, several potential adversaries!

(I mean, come on... How am I supposed to resist THAT?)

What about you guys? Do you have an annual gaming purchase planning as well?
