Mauridian Fleet

I've always liked the designs of Ravenstar Mauridian ships, but could never find a use for them that justified the purchase. Well, turns out I decided to come up with fleets for the factions of Beyond the Gates of Antares, so I could play the game in space, using my house rules for space combat, and the Mauridians stroke me as the the perfect visual I had in mind for the Concord ships, so here they are:

Ba' Bada Class Frigate:

They are the main escorts in the fleet, providing flank support for the bigger vessels too slow to pivot efficiently.

Val' Naveg Light Cruiser:

Bigger and more gunned than the frigates, the light cruisers are also designated as escorts sometimes, although they also have enough fiepower to act on their own, as well.

Gal' Ethon Heavy Cruiser:

These cruisers combine heavy firepower and fighter capability, making them very versatile on the battlefields of antarean space.

Gal' Neveg Battlecruiser:

The workhouse of my Concord fleet. The most common capital vessels in the Concord navy, they trade fighter capacity in favor of massive firepower from its broadsides and forward cannons.

Ven' Esstaga Missile Cruiser:

This cruiser relies heavily on guided missiles to strike havoc on the enemy formations, making them a good addition to a battlegroup.

Gan' Talak Battleship:

The largest ship in the navy, the Gan' Talak combines the fighter capability of the Gal' Ethons with the overwhelming firepower of the Gal' Neveg, making it one of the most feared warships in the galaxy.

I'm also adding fighters to the fleet (only obvious, since it includes carriers!). I bought some from Studio Bergstrom, to see how they go with the Mauridian designs, and I really like the result, and will be placing an order for a bunch of these next month.

Yet More troops for Antares

Since the Algoryn recently got their reinforcements, it's only fair I paint a bit for the other factions as well, so here they are.

First off, Tsan Ra troops for the Isorian Shard:

I also decided to paint some extra firepower for the Concord in the form of a couple support weapons from Deadzone Asterians, which I had laying around, and that I think goes well with the Concord feel.

They're magnetized, so I can easily switch between the 3 options of top equipment: a heavy and a light gun, and a strange kind of emitter that I might proxy for a support drone of some kind. The heavy gun I'm thinking of using as an yet unreleased Compressor Cannon, and the smaller one as perhaps another plasma cannon (which you can never have too many of anyway).

Algoryn Reinforcements

Here are a few units I've finished for my Algoryn forces. They have been patiently waiting for their turn on the paint table for a couple months, now, while I was focused on making progress with my barbarians for Hail Caesar.

And following on with my project of building fleets of antares factions to play space battles, I recently repainted a space station from Firestorm Armada into algoryn colors. It seemed a good visual fit for their aesthetic, and goes along well with the line of ships I'll be using for their fleet (of which I had already painted a battleship, which is shown here for comparison):

3 more warbands finished

I made an extra effort to finish another 3 warbands for my celt army before the year was through, I had committed myself to getting this army ready for the table in 2016, and ready it is!

Certainly not as large as I want it to eventually be, but large enough to face a considerable roman force in open field. I'll be posting pics on the "complete" gallic army here soon.

Here are the new warbands, a mix of Italeri Gauls, Barbarians and Caesar Celts:
