Swedish Lifeguard Infantry

These are the Swedish Lifeguards, the last unit that remained to be painted in my Swedish army (I saved the best for last!).

As with the rest of the models on Hat's Swedish Infantry set, these guys don't come with a standard bearer, but I figured one of their 3 poses was good conversion material, so, like I did with the grenadiers, I replaced the model's musket with a spare pole and gave him a handpainted flag.

Swedish Guard Grenadiers

Here is my unit of Guard Grenadiers for the Swedish army, from the Hat Industries' Swedish Infantry set. As I have mentioned here before, this set is among the worst Hat has ever produced, in my opinion - the sculpts are unispiring at best, and some are just plain ugly.

There are 3 poses of Guard Grenadiers in the set, of which 2 are good enough - the ones I used on my unit. The third pose is quite poor and ill-proportioned, but I needed one of those models to convert into a standard bearer, removing the musket he was carrying against his chest and replacing it with a spare pole from another kit. The flag was handpainted, bearing the initial of King Karl XIII (since I'll be using them mostly for my 1813 campaign games).

Prussian Infantry - 1st Brandenburg

Here is another unit for my incipient Prussian army, the 2nd battalion of the 1st Brandenburg Regiment (8th Regiment of Line Infantry), on their poppy-red facings and shoulder straps.

I even painted a screen of skirmishers for this unit, to better represent a mixed formation:

Prussian Line Infantry - 1st East Prussian

I took a brief pause from painting Swedes to work on the first units of the army I'm starting this year: the Prussians.

This is the first battalion of the 1st East Prussian Regiment (1st Regiment of Line), with their brick red (orange red) facings and white shoulder straps, indicative of the first regiment of that province.

The models are Hat Industries, and some of their best output! The proportions, high standard of sculpting and detail, historical accuracy and number of poses makes these gentlemen a true joy to paint. Hat produced 3 kits of this infantry - march, action and command, and I used a mix of these to come up with this unit, with musketeers on the back holding their rifles on their shoulders and the ones in the front firing/reloading.
