Black Templar Fleet

Here is another painted fleet for my collection. I had this one finished for several months now, the only thing missing being the small thunderhawks, which I couldn't bring myself to preparing and painting until just recently.

Tiny fighters are exausting to work with, having to drill small holes on their bottoms to fix even smaller needles in. Repeat that dozens of times and you get an idea of why I stave that off so much.

Anyway, the fleet is now ready for deployment. Enjoy the pics!

The Black Templars are my primary army for 40k, so deciding which chapter colors I'd paint this fleet in wa a no brainer. I also wanted very much to have my own Eternal Crusader - the capital ship of the Black Templars' Armada. I used a bit of an imperial eagle to differentiate it from my other battleship.

More vehicles from Antenociti's

So recently I painted another 2 tanks from Antenociti's Workshop. They are Hunchback APC's.

I planned on using them as transports for my Enforcers, but in person they look a bit on the small side to fit more than a couple of these dudes inside, so I guess I'll have to find some other use for them.

The models are fantastic, though. Great designs, nicely cast.

This vehicle comes with three weapon options: a twin-linked anti-infantry gun, with some small launchers attached, a twin-linked missile launcher and a misslie launcher combined with a main gun which is probably on the light-tank-killer end of the spectrum.

Anyway, fun models to paint, a couple more vehicles for my ongoing Warpath armies and more stuff out of my painting desk.

Next post will be about spaceships once more!

Babylon 5: Centauri and Minbari x Vorlons

Last saturday we palyed another game of Pax Stellarum. This time we fielded the Vorlons against an alliance of Centauri and Minbari. Each side had a total of around 1460 points.

My side controlled the Centauri and Minbari. I had the Centauri, and my friend, the Minbari. The Vorlons are deadly on their front arc of fire (Prow), due to their Death Rays, so we chosed to deploy flanking their fleet, forcing them to maneuver to face part of our forces, giving the rear to the rest of it.

The Minbari consisted of only 2 Sharlin cruisers. One deployed on the table, the other was designated to enter from reserve through Hyperspace jump later on the game, along with a Centauri battlecruiser.

The game went basically in favor of the Vorlons. Their ships turned out to be far superior to the Centauri-Minbari formations. I probably gave them way too many cool stuff. I should tune them down a bit next time.

SAM_5971

The Minbari had a bad roll on reserves, and the extra Sharlin didn't show up until turn 5, and since  it comprised half the Minbari fire power, it really hindered our chances of winning the battle, I think.

SAM_5973

On the end of game turn 6 we had already lost all our capital ships (2 Primus and 2 Sharlins), only destroying a couple Vorlon Frigates in exchange, and there was little point in prolonging a lost battle, so we capitulated.

During the game, we spent some time discussing ways to improve the Ramming and Boarding rules, and I think we made good progress. I hope to playtest more proposed changes over the next couple weeks.

Corporation Tanks on Parade

Last week I had some time to work on more vehicles for my Corporation army. These models are from 2 different companies. The flyers came from Antenociti's Workshop and the tanks are produced by Bits Pudlo.

The mortar (Pounder, for my Corporation army) have 2 weapon options on the front and a mechanic arm on the rear that helps reload the main gun. I chosed to magnetize them all. In the case of the arm, it is useful also to avoid breakage during transport.

The flyers don't come with flight stands, so I ordered a couple from Forgeworld to use on them. These are the exactly same that come with the GW flyers, such as the Stormtalon and Stormraven. They are also magnetized, so I can easily disassemble them for easy transportation.

Large bases are always a good oportunity to apply yourself on basing, and I wanted to give these two a battlefield debris look. I think they came out nice.

The flyers come with a single weapon option: missile launcher. I magnetized their sides so I can also fit there other weapons that I have for my 40k Stormravens.

I now had a pretty decent sized collection of vehicles for my army, and so I figured it would be nice to have them all displayed for a Parade shot:

I'm still on the process of revising Pax Stellarum, and last saturday I played another game with friends. Photos will follow soon, on the next post.
