Russian Line Infantry - Vilna Regiment

Another unit of line infantry done. Another 3 to go until the end of the year, to meet my paint schedule for the russian army.

Russian Jaegers

First unit of russian jaegers finished. These are Zvezda Russian Grenadiers, with plumes (mostly) cut off.

I'll be also doing a lot of jaegers in skirmish bases, as well as others in ranks such as these.

Note the Carabiniers with plumes. I'm not sure whether they had mustaches or not, so I haven't painted this detail on them yet.

Russian Line Infantry - Sveaborg Regiment

First regiment of line infantry finished for the russians. No grenadiers here, since I do full regiments of those, to represent combined grenadiers.

These are Zvezda Russian Grenadiers, with plumes cut off and mustaches trimmed.

La Haye Sainte

Oh, the joys of 1/72... This is an Airfix La Haye Sainte kit, and costed me £9.00 on ebay. Similar buildings in other popular scales, even 15mm, which is smaller, can easily go over US$100.00.

The only thing I found this kit lacking on was on doors and window frames, but nothing I couldn't come up with using plasticard and a moddeling blade to carve it up a bit to mimic wood grooves.

The cart is from the Hat Napoleonic British Rockets kit, I only used one for my rocket battery, so I still have a couple left for future projects. The hay on it is sisal fiber, trimmed from one of the pieces of crop I have, made out of a door mat.

The side garden is a separate base, for ease of storage and transport. I had to cut down the extended wall to do that, for it comes in a single piece, conected to the wall of the main house.

I was not sure how to design a proper garden there, and I admit I'm not completely happy with it as it is, I might add some more plants and bushes in there, but I don't want to got over the top, either. I want to leave plenty of room for skirmishing soldiers to occupy.

Plantations and Ploughed Fields

I've been expanding my collection of terrain lately, and decided I needed a few more pieces of crops and ploughed fields.

These here are made using spaghetti sticks, covered with my special recipe of Texture (tm). The emperor wanted to go for a ride around the painting room, so I made use of him to show the scale of the terrain pieces here.

I added some flocking to a couple of the fields, to have more diversity of terrain, and I think they look quite good in representing small family kitchen gardens.

Having finished with using spaghetti on my terrain production, and being quite satisfied with the results, I treated myself with what would perhaps be deemed a more orthodox use of pasta, and came up with a tasty mushroom gravy to feast on while congratulating myself over the results of my latest project.
