First regiment of line infantry finished for the russians. No grenadiers here, since I do full regiments of those, to represent combined grenadiers.
These are Zvezda Russian Grenadiers, with plumes cut off and mustaches trimmed.
The regiment along with their screen of skirmishers:
Great work! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice looking! :D
ReplyDeletenice job
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent result. The combined grenadiers were formed from the second battalions (reserve) regiments. Battalions No. 1 and No. 3 (of field) have always been with their Grenadier companies.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that! In that case, I'll add some grenadiers to my line units. Thanks for the tip!
Deletevery nice! I am always tempted to do Russians
ReplyDeleteNice ancestors!
ReplyDeleteGreat work on these!
ReplyDeleteRussian Line battalions had 1 company of Grenadiers in the tall plumes (Half Grenadiers, Half Tirailleurs, only real difference being sword knots and pom pom colors), and 3 of Musketeers. Jager battalions had a similar organization, except with different names for their companies (much like French battalions of the same era).
As noted above, in 1812 - 134, the 2nd (depot) battalions of most regiments had their Grenadier companies stripped off to form Combined Grenadier battalions; in practical terms,. they were probably equal to Line battalions at best. The permanent grenadier regiments (Pavlov, Moscow, Grouzinsky) etc were another matter and may be considered elite.
Excellent painted Russians!
