Austrian Cuirassiers

Following on with my on going Austrian army. First unit of cavalry: Cuirassiers. These are Hat's models, they come 12 per box, and since I use 18 to do standard units of horsemen, I purchased 3 boxes to come up with 2 regiments. The other one will be painted with distinct facing colors.

These guys already saw action last saturday and did an amazing job, scoring 2 kills: one battery of french artillery and later a regiment of Bavarian Chevaulegéres. Wasn't enough to save the day for the austro-british allied army, though.

  1. Really great job on these!

    A few small suggestions -

    1) Consider making one figure a Trumpeter - only thing that is really needed for that is red crest on the helmet and shoulder wings in white plus facing color. Simple paint conversion.

    2) Consider adding a standard bearer next time - the Austrian flags are cool, and also an easy conversion in plastic - bend an arm a bit, and a wire flag pole and paper flag (Warflag to print out same).

For some reason since you changed the blogs name, I don't get updates via blogger, so I've tried joining again!

    1. Thanks, Peter!

I'm thinking of doing so. The guy holding his sabre close to his body would be the perfect model to convert to a standard bearer. Just have to figure out what would be the apropriate flag for a unit of cuirassiers.
